USING SWOT ANALYSIS TO DEVELOP MODERN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING METHODS

Abstract: The rapid transformation of global education systems has significantly influenced the methodology and practice of English language teaching. In the modern educational environment, teachers are expected not only to transmit linguistic knowledge but also to develop communicative competence, critical thinking, digital literacy, and intercultural understanding among learners. Under such conditions, traditional teaching approaches often fail to satisfy the demands of contemporary education. Therefore, strategic planning tools such as SWOT analysis have become increasingly important in identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats within English language teaching systems. This article examines the role of SWOT analysis in the development of modern English language teaching methods. The study explores theoretical foundations of SWOT analysis, analyzes its pedagogical significance, and evaluates its practical application in English language classrooms. Particular attention is given to the educational reforms implemented in Uzbekistan, including the integration of digital technologies, communicative methodologies, and learner-centered instruction. The research combines qualitative analysis of scholarly literature with comparative examination of teaching practices in higher education institutions. The findings demonstrate that SWOT analysis serves as an effective strategic instrument for improving teaching quality, increasing learner motivation, and adapting educational methods to rapidly changing social and technological conditions. The article also proposes several methodological recommendations for teachers and educational institutions seeking to modernize English language instruction.
