Abstract

This article reviews the integration of speech synthesis technology, also known as text-to-speech technology, in language learning. It discusses its potential to improve pronunciation, intonation, and listening skills among learners, supported by studies demonstrating significant benefits in these areas. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the study includes quantitative assessments and qualitative insights from learners, highlighting substantial improvements in language learning outcomes for those using speech synthesis technology. Results indicate enhanced pronunciation accuracy, intonation skills, and listening comprehension compared to traditional methods. Qualitative data underscore learners' positive perceptions of personalized and interactive learning experiences with the technology. Overall, while challenges such as accuracy and naturalness of synthesized speech exist, the article concludes that speech synthesis technology offers valuable resources for language education, promoting dynamic and engaging language learning environments.
