Abstract

This article explores the priority moral principles in society as reflected in the works of Theodore Dreiser’s Sister Carrie and Zulfiya Qurolboy qizi’s Oyimtilla. Both novels reveal the complex interaction between individual desires and social norms, highlighting how moral values shape personal fate and social behavior. The study analyzes how American and Uzbek literary traditions portray the influence of ethical principles on human life and the challenges faced by female protagonists in pursuing happiness and freedom within their cultural contexts.
